On December 11th, the NDUSO will meet in Bismarck to shape the initial framework for an Adult Learning Council. Chancellor William Goetz introduced the initiative and asked Dr. Hillman and me to develop it. The meeting on Friday, December 11 will provide a structure in which the members of the Adult Learning Council can begin their responsibilities on January 28th and 29th.

In preparation for the first meeting of the Council, the distance education directors and others from the eleven institutions will meet on December 11th. During that time, the distance education directors will:

• Review State Board of Higher Education Objectives
• Answer the questions "Why are we here?" and "What are the givens?"
• Discuss draft statement of vision, mission, values, goals, and initiatives
• Small group discussion of initiatives
• Priortize initiatives
• Consider membership options for the Adult Learning Council
